Population

Two decades of gridded population estimates and population density for every municipality: the denominator for per-capita indicators and population-weighted averages.

Annual population estimates for Bolivia’s 339 municipalities from 2001 to 2020, computed by summing WorldPop’s 1 km gridded population over each municipality, and the population density (people per km²) of each municipality. Population sums up the hierarchy, so it gives provincial, departmental and national totals directly, and it is the weight for population-weighted averages of rates such as poverty. These are gridded estimates, not INE’s official projections.
