Load, link and build Bolivian indicators with geo4bolivia

A hands-on tour of the observatory’s data: load it with and without the package, move it across scales, link your own table by name or INE code, and build an indicator from a raster.

This Colab notebook walks through the observatory’s data for Bolivia’s 339 municipalities. It loads files as plain URLs and then with geo4bolivia; maps multidimensional poverty in its census year; sums population to departments and computes population-weighted poverty; combines lights, population and poverty in one panel; links a table by department names in any spelling and by INE municipality codes, and shows how shared municipality names and typos are reported; builds a market-access indicator (distance to La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz) from a raster with zonal statistics; interpolates population onto a 25 km grid; and saves the result in the observatory’s format.
